A Bluetooth PAN is also referred to as a piconet, and it consists of 8 active devices. These devices are connected in a master-slave relationship.

What is the master / slave relationship?

The first Bluetooth device in the piconet is the master, and all other devices are slaves that communicate with the master. A single Master controls no more than seven Slaves in a Piconet and a PAN comprises several communicating Piconets.
